Here is something thrilling happening in the superhero genre of manga right now. Japanese superhero Ultraman will be joining hands with Marvel Comics’ Spider-Man to fight a common enemy in the upcoming manga Ultraman: Along Came a Spider. Viz Media said they have entered into a partnership with Tsuburaya and Marvel for the new crossover manga. As AnimeNewsNetwork reported, the first two chapters of the manga are going to be available via the Viz Media app on August 13. However, those who prefer the print version will have to wait until Summer 2025.

Artist Tomo Hirokawa who has earlier worked on various Sword Art Online manga will be doing the artwork. Shigenobu Matsumoto, meanwhile is going to write the manga. Matsumoto has extensive experience writing for Duel Masters. Apart from this, Marvel and Tsuburaya Productions’ Ultraman franchise will also collaborate on the four-issue Ultraman x Avengers comic mini-series that is set for launch on August 14.

Apart from Spider Man, the other two of Marvel’s Avengers – Iron Man and Captain Marvel are also going to be part of a crossover comic book featuring Ultraman. This was in fact announced by Tsuburaya Fields Media & Pictures Entertainment back in June 2023 regarding their partnership with Marvel Comics that aims to create a crossover comic book mini-series.

Meanwhile, here is how Tsuburaya Productions has described the storyline of the Ultraman: Along Came a Spider manga:

On Marvel Earth, Spider-Man joins forces with the Avengers to battle Doctor Doom in New York City, but when several civilians are killed in a building collapse as a result, Spider-Man becomes demoralized and finds himself whisked away in a strange spacecraft called the Interdimensional Train. Doctor Doom stows aboard and both find themselves in the Tokyo of the Ultraman universe! Witnessing Ultraman battle a giant Kaiju, Doom craves the Giant of Light’s power and joins forces with Alien Mefilas and his army of Kaiju from the Monster Graveyard to steal it.
