Ledger announced the launch of its latest hardware wallet, the Ledger Flex featuring a 2.8-inch E Ink display, HelpNetSecurity reported. The new Ledger Flex is also going to be available starting Friday and is priced at $249. Apart from this, Ledger also hiked the prices of Ledger Stax which is now going to be available for $399. That’s up from the $279 that the device was initially priced at when it was first launched on December 2022.

Compared to the Stax, the new Ledger Flex is a bit smaller. There is none of the curved e-paper display of the Stax either, which, it must be said, imparts a distinct sense of style to the device. That said, the Flex too is quite a looker and sports the iconic black and steel motif. The 2.8-inch E Ink display supports 16 shades of gray and has a resolution of 600 x 480 pixels. Connectivity options include USB C, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC. It is of the same size as a credit card reader or a small smartphone and weighs just 57.5 grams.

Similar to the Ledger Stax, the Ledger Flex is designed to serve as a secure device that can be used to deposit or exchange cryptocurrencies. Those can be bitcoin, ether, cardano, solana, and so on. The Flex runs the company’s proprietary Secure OS and supports NFC connectivity to ensure usability while still guaranteeing top notch security.

The wallet is attached to the Ledger Live app and supports transactions across 70 blockchains and 200 dApps. Besides, the company also introduced the new Ledger Security Key app which adds an extra layer of security by way of Passkey and two-factor authentication. The app is going to be available for both Ledger Stax and Ledger Flex.

“With growing digital ownership and AI fakes, digital asset security, proof-of-humanity, and proof-of identity is more crucial than ever,” said Ian Rogers, Chief Experience Officer at Ledger. “Ledger Stax and Ledger Flex are the secure touchscreens to go with the insecure touchscreen in your pocket.”

The obvious benefit of having an E Ink display is that it ensures excellent visibility even in bright sunlight conditions. Plus, it has exceptional battery life too, with the ability to last weeks or maybe even a month on a single full charge of the battery.

“By launching both Ledger Flex and Ledger Stax this year, we’re redefining the experience of self-custody. Ledger devices already secure more than 20% of the world’s digital assets, and our new secure touchscreen category will make self-custody more accessible than ever before for more consumers and enterprises,” said Pascal Gauthier, Chairman & CEO of Ledger.
