It was in October last that Onyx Boox announced the launch of the Note Max E Ink tablet. However, it wasn’t available to buy in the US, UK, and the EU so far. That is until now when Boox said the 13.3-inch E Ink tablet is finally ready to ship to buyers in the above-mentioned regions. The Note Max is expected to ship in the US by around the 21st of this month. You can place your orders at the Boox official store or Amazon accordingly.
The Note Max is the largest device that Onyx Boox had announced in October last along with the Palma 2 and the Note Air 4C. As already stated, it comes with a 13.3-inch 300 PPI E Ink display which makes it great for viewing any type of document. The Carta 1300 display offers fast and clean page refreshes each time. Since you get to view even large format documents easily without resorting to pinch-n-zoon, the device is ideal for office work or for researchers, digital artists, and so on.
The display however lacks a front light feature, which means you are dependent entirely on the ambient light for using the device. This is because of the reflective nature of E Ink displays which, much like paper, depend on the surrounding light to illuminate the screen. Many e-readers or e-note devices such as the Kindle or the Kobo come with a front light feature which essentially are beads of LED lights lined along the front display and act to light up the e-paper screen.
The device otherwise comes with an octa-core 2.8GHz processor that is coupled with 6 GB of RAM. That makes for enough processing grunt to allow the smooth running of most essential Android apps that you may need. The 128 GB of onboard storage should be enough for storing all your essential documents and other files. Power comes from a 3700 mAh battery which should keep the device going for a few days comfortably. It runs Android 13 out of the box and allows for the installation of third-party Android apps. It weighs 615 grams and measures 4.6 mm in thickness.
If all of this sounds enticing enough, you can place your order for the Note Max at the Boox official site or at Amazon. The e-note will set you back $650.
