Solum announced the launch of a new generation of e-paper signage solutions based on the E Ink Spectra 6 color e-paper display at the NRF 2025 event, the website TechWorld reported. The E Ink Spectar 6 offers a full-color display that is crisp and sharp, with resolutions of up to 200 PPI. The use of advanced color imaging algorithms ensures the most accurate depiction of color while allowing for the rendering of life-like images. The display also supports what is being described as the partial blinking effect. This allows advertisers to make specific parts of the display to blink. This helps in drawing the viewer’s attention to those parts which helps in advertising efforts.
Apart from this, the e-paper signage from Solum is operated. This makes for a completely wireless installation of the signage though you will need to replace the battery at the end of a specific period. Thankfully, e-paper displays are known for their extremely frugal nature when it comes to power affinity. They require almost zero power as long as the display is static, drawing power only when the image changes. This makes it ideal for use in advertising or signage purposes where you often need to keep a message displayed for fairly long durations.
This is quite unlike LED or LCD displays, which require constant power for their operation, besides emitting heat in the process. Installation and maintenance of conventional displays is also quite cumbersome. All of this makes e-paper displays not only power efficient but also extremely environment-friendly as well. They emit far less carbon dioxide compared to traditional displays.
Updating the Solum signage is also a breeze thanks to the dedicated app that the company has come up with. You can have a new image displayed or update a given image easily and quickly. Plus, there are scores of templates already provided that are optimized for the specific display size and allow for easy updating of a given image. The app also allows you to keep a tab on multiple displays while remotely monitoring them simultaneously. You can also set specific sleep and wake timing using the app for maximum energy efficiency.
Solum has long been associated with E Ink and has so far been engaged in the development of Electronic Shelf Labels using advanced e-paper displays. This time the company has enhanced the partnership by venturing into the e-paper display signage segment using E Ink Spectra 6 color e-paper displays.
