The iReader Ocean 4C which the company had launched just days back is now available to buy online. It can be ordered via JingDong where it is priced at 1699 Yuan, which comes to around 231 USD. The new Ocean 4C is special in that it comes bundled with the company’s first stylus offering – the iReader Pencil. The capacitive pen features a customized carbon fiber nib and a metallic pen holder. The pen comes with a built-in eraser and supports 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity.
Also, a nice thing about the Ocean 4C is its asymmetric form factor where you have a thicker portion which tapers off to being quite thin for the rest of the body. The thicker portion is also where most of the weight is concentrated and is hence the most convenient place to hold the device. The thicker bezel also hosts the page turn buttons and allows for a more seamless reading experience. At 179 grams, the Ocean 4C is light enough for a convenient reading experience. It measures just 4 mm at its thinnest part.
Upfront lies a 7-inch color e-paper display which iReader is referring to as the Kaleido 3 Plus display. It offers 300 PPI B/W and 150 PPI color resolution. The display also benefits from the company’s i-Clean 2.0 instant clear technology which together with the new fast refresh technology allows for a clean and clear display each time with almost zero ghosting effect. Further, the GPU Turbo ensures speedy performance which includes 47 percent faster book opening times, 52 percent faster comic loading times, and a 38 percent improvement in PDF loading time.
The rest of the specs include 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. A 2000 mAh battery keeps the device alive. It runs SmartOS and supports Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 2.4/5.0GHz wireless connectivity. There is also a built-in speaker and a microphone onboard as well. Plus, there is also the Type-C port which allows for wired connectivity besides recharging the battery as well. It measures 154.2 x 136 mm in length and breadth while depth ranges from 7.8 mm at its thickest portion to being just 4 mm thin for the rest of the device.
