The new Meebook M8 e-reader device developed in partnership with JDRead is all set for launch on December 2. The upcoming e-reader comes with a 7.8-inch monochrome E Ink display having 300 PPI resolution. It offers several refresh modes to suit specific reading requirements, which can be like comics, PDF files, e-books, and such. The display supports 256 grayscale levels along with 24 level warm and cool temperature controls. The display also boasts exceptional clarity thanks to a high light transmittance of 92 percent.
A highlight of the Meebook M8 is its note-taking feature. It supports 4096 levels of pressure-sensitive writing. This way, you can annotate or journal whenever needed, which is an added positive with the device. The device otherwise comes with a 2.2GHz octa-core processor, 4 gigs of memory, and 64 gigs of storage. There is also the option to add another 1 TB of storage via external memory cards. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6.
The e-reader runs Android 14 which makes it perhaps the only e-reader to come with an OS version this advanced. There is also the Bigme B1051C e-note device which too comes pre-installed with Android 14. Coming to dimensions, the Meebook M8 measures 193 x 140 x 7 mm. At 256 grams, it might not be the lightest around but should be par for the course. A 3200 mAh battery keeps things going and should last a few weeks at least.
Other features the M8 comes with include a dual speaker system as well as integrated dual microphones. The built-in gravity sensor ensures the screen orientation changes automatically to match the device orientation. There is also a Type-C port available which allows for a wired connection for data transfer as well as quick battery top-up.
As for its price, the Meebook M8 will set you back 1,399 yuan which translates to 193 USD. Orders can be placed at JingDong with shipping slated to begin December 2.
